The Buddy Walk has finally come and gone. It was a very
successful event. We hope everyone had a good time and encourage your comments
and suggestions so we can make future Buddy Walks even better.
We are entering the final part of the year and want to
remind everyone that the Christmas Party will be coming up on December
13th at the Junior League building. See inside the newsletter for additional
details. Please make plans to attend, as a great turnout would show the
Junior League members how much we truly appreciate their sponsorship of
this event.
Best wishes for the upcoming holiday season and blessings
for 2004.
A Huge Thanks to the Buddy Walk Committee Members!
Adam and I can’t thank our committee members enough for
all their hard work. We started meeting about the Buddy Walk in January
and these people came to all the meetings and really helped out. The walk
was a huge success because of all of these people:
Trish and Brent Bailey Jim and Laura Lester
Sharon and Pryce Joyner Lori Schultz (Publicity)
Kristin Pope, Kimberly Myers
Thank you guys so much!
December 13th Christmas
Party
The Christmas Party is Saturday, December 13th from
3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Junior League Building next to the Little Lighthouse
at 36th and Yale. This is for the whole family! Bring your
cameras.... a special guest is going to make an appearance! Children of
all ages will enjoy this party.
The party will be instead of our regular meeting for December.
Buddy Walk - What Success!
First we want to say a gigantic thank you to Erin and
Adam Paul for working tirelessly to make our first Buddy Walk a huge success.
The Buddy Walk was a huge success! Over 500 people
gathered at Whiteside Park on October 19th for a day of family fun and
community awareness!
Tulsa Police Chief Been, Mayor Bill LaFortune and Senator
Brogden were there to lead the walk. There were all sorts of exhibitors
and entertainment for the family. The 4-H Club brought out a petting zoo,
the TheraPETic Dogs of Oklahoma were out there, Tulsa Police cars and motorcycle,
Honky Da Clown, even face painting… you name it. What a fun day!
We thank Kendra Pennington (who writes our newsletter
for us) and her husband, Bryan, for providing the wonderful DJ entertainment
during the day. They did a fantastic job! Thank you, Powerhouse!
We did get lots of media attention, too. We were in the Tulsa World and
the Beacon the week before the walk and then Fox 23 and Channel 6 were
out there the day of the walk. What great community awareness! We do still
have t-shirts available for sell if you are interested: Short Sleeve $10
and Long Sleeve $12. If you would like a shirt, contact Erin Paul at 495-2563.
By the way, the Indian Nations Professional Photography
group was at the Buddy Walk taking pictures and donated them. Please go
to DSAT.org and look at the pictures from the Buddy Walk.
A Huge Thank You to all our wonderful Buddy Walk Sponsors.
We couldn’t of done it without you!
