Q: Is it expensive to have a custom-made dress?
A: No, our prices are comparable to most bridal salons. Price is determined by fabric and style. For example, a simple sheath dress made of cotton/polyester blend will be less expensive than one made out of dupioni silk. A typical wedding gown may cost between $1,500-$3,000. Flower girl dress can range from $150- $300. Bridesmaid’s, mother-of-the-bride/groom, and special occasion can range from $250-$900 and higher.

Q: What are the advantages of going to Nilah & Company vs. going to a bridal salon?
1. Custom. You get the style, color, and fabric you want, the way you want it, when you want it. No hassles!

2. Flexibility. When it comes to creating a dress for your special day, we can take the top of one dress design and combine it with the bottom of a different design and the sleeve of yet another design, to give you the look desired. For bridesmaids, we work with each attendant individually to create a dress that compliments her figure. That way, every bridesmaid can walk down the aisle wearing a dress that she feels good about … and looks good on her. When it comes to your flower girl’s dress, we can design a gown that matches your bridal gown. Mom’s get special treatment too, so they can look and feel glamorous and beam with pride on your special day.

3. Service. Nilah personally gives individual attention to every client. Our dependable service ensures a stress-free delivery of your dress.

Q: How long does it take to make a dress?
A: The process usually takes just three or four visits over two months. We encourage you to schedule your initial appointment as soon as possible. Nilah handles every aspect of your dressmaking personally and will not overbook. She is committed to giving each client the individual attention they deserve.

Q: Do you have a store?
A: No. Nilah & Company is a home-based business located in Drexel Hill, PA, about 20 minutes southwest of downtown, Philadelphia, just off Rt. 476/Blue Route. Hours are by appointment only and are flexible, including nights and weekends.

Q: I would like to wear my mother’s wedding dress, can you rework it to make it fit?
A:That is usually not a problem,depending on the dress style and condition. Nilah can give you additional options when she sees the dress.

Q: I have my dress, can you do just alterations?
A: Yes. No problem.

Q: Do you make accessories?
A: Yes. We make veils and a wide variety of headpieces, handbags and shawls/wraps to coordinate with your dress. For winter weddings, we can make you a cape or bridal coat. For the men in your bridal party we can make matching ties and cummerbunds.

Q: What do I bring to my FREE consultation?
A: Photos or magazine clippings of dresses you like and color swatches will be helpful. If you are not sure, Nilah can help you determine fabric, style and color.
