So I was
looking at my "Our Last, Best Hope..."
deck the other day, and thought to myself "Self, if you are
going to be playing a B5 deck that doesn't rely on Alliance of
Races, why aren't you using Diplomat Londo and all those cool,
rare Centauri diplomacy bruisers you have?" So what we have
here is effectively the exact same deck as "Our Last, Best
Hope", but with the word "dog" crossed out and
"cat" written in in crayon, er, but with all the Human
cards swapped out for the appropriate Centauri cards, and a few
other card selections changed to capitalize upon the fact that
it is a Centauri deck.
Opening Hand: Londo Mollari (Diplomat) Vir Cotto The Hope of Peace Rapid Growth Deck (60 cards): 3x Impasse 3x Affirmation of Peace 3x Call in a Marker 3x Affirmation of Power 2x Euphraties Treaty 1x A Brighter Future 1x Non-Aligned Support 3x Level the Playing Field 3x Machiavellian Politics 3x Support Babylon 5 1x Interstellar Alliance 1x Coincidence 1x The Eye 1x Upgraded Defenses 2x Backroom Dealing 1x Into Their Own 1x United Front 1x Personal Growth 1x Focus your Efforts 1x Cult of Personality 2x Peace in Our Time 3x Garrison Fleet 2x Homeworld Fleet (Centauri) 3x Centauri Aide 1x Attache Cotto 1x Lady Morella 2x Minister Virini 1x Minister Verano 1x Urza Jaddo 1x Minister Chorlini 2x Minister Malachi 1x Lord Kiro 1x Emperor Turhan 1x Prime Minister Mollari 1x Emperor Mollari II 1x Efficiency Engineers
Obviously, this deck is going to work just like "Our Last, Best Hope...", i.e. build a strong rank of Diplomacy bruisers backed by The Hope of Peace and steadily increase both your and Babylon 5's influence by winning conflicts and rigging B5 votes with Backroom Dealings, Machiavellian Politics, and Call in a Marker, and then playing Peace in Our Time for the win. Prime Minister Mollari shouldn't ever actually be played, unless he is going to be immediately followed up by Emperor Mollari II, as Prime Minister Mollari is going to be rather inferior (diplomacy wise) to plain old Diplomat Londo (as will Emperor Mollari, in all likelihood, but his 9 intrigue, ability to sponsor and promote for free, and his Major Victory clause generally make up for the loss of a few points of diplomacy). Interstellar Alliance is in there to shut out the likes of the Drakh in a pinch.
