Mama Desti's Money Dolls. Mama Desti (short for destiny) was born in Madascar in 1899. At the age of 20 she and her family left their hometown for the United States. They got as far as the island of Haiti. The family lived in Haiti for 10 years before they finally got to the United States. The art of doll-making witchery was never lost to the Mama Desti died in Haiti at age 25. family. Tanya, Mama Desti's great-grand daughter now carries on the art, passed down through the ages from a great-grandmother, whom she never met, but feels her spirit, her presence everyday. It is Mama Desti's spirit that Tanya breathes into each and everyone of the dolls as she creates and blesses them. The dolls are featureless, because Mama Desti said that throught concentration, imagination and personal blessing, they can be whatever you want them to be.
