Note:
Depending on the Internet Access Plan you have, there is a limit to the
web space available to you (15 MB or 5 MB).
If you need more information
concerning your access plan, need to upgrade it, or have additional questions
about this solution please contact us by clicking on the envelope above:
1. Open Netscape Communicator
and make sure you are connected to the internet.
2. Type in the web site address:
ftp://username@ftp.myplanet.net ("username" is the username you use to
login to Big Planet). A dialog box will come up asking for your password.
You should enter the password you use to login to Big Planet and click
on the "OK" button.
3. Confirm that you are in
your private publishing area by verifying that your page says "Current
directory is /web".
Hint: If your page says "Current
directory is/" you are not in your private publishing area. To enter your
private publishing area, click the "web/" folder.
4. You are now ready to upload
files to your web storage space. You can do so by dragging and dropping
the files you want to upload to your browser. Or, you can choose "Upload
File" from the File menu, choose the file you want to upload and click
the "Open" button.
Hint: You should name the
first page of your web site "index.htm", "default.htm", or "home.htm" (do
not use capital letters). Macintosh users can alternatively name their
first page "index.html", "default.html", or "home.html".
5. A dialog box will come
up to give you an indication that the file is being transferred to the
server. After the transfer, verify that your directory contains the file
or files you have uploaded.
6. You can now view your
web site by typing in the web address http://www.myplanet.net/yourusername*/yourpagename
**
*Once again "yourusername"
is the username you use to login to Big Planet.
**If your page name is index.htm
default.htm or home.htm, it will load automatically without you needing
to enter the name here. |
