Wicca is a religion that is misunderstood often, due to stereotypes set down for generations. We do not believe in Satan, The Devil, or any other Christian image of evil. We do not do any Christian
ritual backwards-- such as the Lord's Prayer. We do not mock Christian communion. We do not eat babies, drink blood, or sacrifice animals.
In short, we are not trying to parody Christianity in any way. Wicca is completely seperate from Christianity, Judiasm, Hinduism, Islam, Shintoism, Budism, or any other religion. Wiccans do not have a text
they follow (ie: Bible, Koran), or a set of commandments. The only "rule" in Wicca is "And Harm None, do what you will."
Yes, it is similar to the Golden Rule, but it isn't the same. Harm None, includes yourself. There is both a God and a Goddess in Wicca, although there are many names and faces associated with divinity. Some groups
focus on the Goddess completely, while others divide the year into Half, with the God being dominate in the Fall/Winter, and the Goddess being dominate in the Spring/Summer..There are many pantheons of gods and
goddesses, the most widely known probably being Greek, Roman, Celtic, and Egyptian. A group of wiccans/witches celebrating together is called a coven. Usually a coven has a specific tradition, for instance, calling
Egyptian culture their own. A coven is similar to a parish/church but each member is an active part of their "services." A solitary witch/wiccan is a witch working alone. Wiccans have days of celebration called,
Sabbats, at the Solstices and Equinoxes (quarter marks of the year), as well as minor days of celebration at the cross-quarter marks of the year. We also have Esbats, or celebrations on the Full Moon. Some Wiccans
also celebrate the New Moon as well. Some wiccans/witches do practice magick (the "k" is added to differentiate
