I Charles Ballew of Madison
County State of Kentucky hath made and bequeathed in this my last will
and testament unto my wife Polly Ballew as much of my Estate as she thinks
proper for her maintenance as long as she lives two negroes Kate and Seve
and all my Estate during her life and this tract of land I now live on
I give to my son Thomas Ballew after her death and the balance of my Estate
to be equally divided among my children. I now constitue George Hubbard
Thomas Ballew and ____Yates Executors to this my last will and testament
given under my hand and seal this as above written.

In the name of God Amen I Susanna Ballow being in a
declining condition in my Body but of sound mind and memory
thanks be to almighty God, Do make constitute and ordain this to be my
last will and testament in manner and form following viz.
First I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my
Body to the Earth to be decently buried at the descresion
of my Executors hereafter named. Imprimus.
I give and bequeath to my Son Robert
Ballow one Feather Bed and its furniture three Dishes one Bason one
dozen Pewter Plates one Iron pott Hooks and Rack and one and half
a dozen Pewter Spoons one fryin pann
two Cows and Calves his Choice out of my Stock and ten
young Sows and one black mare and colt and one copper skillet and
one small broad ax and two weeding hows (hoes) and two hilling hows
(hoes). Item I give and bequeth to my Daughter Ann Ballow one
Cow and one Calf and my Chest and one large Pewter Dish half a Dozed
Pewter Plates. Item I give and bequeth to my grandson Leonard Patteson
one heffer Item my Desire is that my black mare be sold by my
Executor and my Son Robert may be schoold with the same.
Item my Will and Pleasure is that after my Debts and Funeral Charges are
paid that the rest of my Estate now be equally divided
between my Sons Charles and Thomas and Joseph and John and
Robert and Leonard Ballow. Item I do
constitute and appoint Leonard Ballow and John Thomas Executors of this
my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand
and afforced my Seal this twenty fifth day of September in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty five.

hundred and fifty six This Last Will and Testament of Susanna Ballow
descd was presented in Court and proved by the oath of Robert Ballow one
of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion
of Leonard Ballow one of the Executors
therein named Certificate for obtaining a probate thereof was
granted him in due Form of Law giving Security on which
he with John Lewis and Abraham Childers his Securities entered
into and acknowledged their Bond for the due and faithful performance
of the said Will.

Foster Jarrett
In the name
of God amen I, Fanny Jarrett, being of sound mind and disposing memory
for which I feel grateful to the giver of all good do make and ordain this
my last will and testament.
First of all
I give and bequeath to my daughter Polly Alexander two hundred and fifty
dollars, to my daughter Minerva E. Davidson two hundred and fifty dollars,
to my son Newton Foster two hundred and fifty dollars, two hundred and
fifty dollars to my grandaughter Mary Ann Foster being part of which I
intended for her mother Lucinda Roberts for which I have seen proper to
give to her by the consent of her mother - In the second place all the
balance of my property money and effects that are in my possession at my
death, to be equally divided between my children.
I desire and
appoint Henry Stevens and W.F. Davidson my Executors.
In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28th day of
December 1860.

May 1794 Will of Thomas Ballow of Powhatan Co, recorded 16 October
1794:
To son Charles Negro man Toney; to daughter Judith Minton, for life,
Negro girl Lucy and her children, then to Judith's children Tabitha and
William Minton; to daughter Martha Hall, Negro woman Hannah, for life,
then equally to Nancy and Martha Hall (her children); to son Edward 80
lbs, to be levied out of money given to my children Michie, Tabitha and
Jesse (under 21); and to these 3 children Negroes: Patt, Jacob, York, Rachel,
little Rachel,
Will, Joan, Sall, Ned, and Harry. To son Jesse, tract I live
on at death of his mother; to son Leonard, 1 shilling 6 pence; to wife,
for widowhood, land I live on, and Negroes: Emanuel, Jane and Nan.
Horses to be divided among children Martha Hall and Mary, Michie and Jesse
Ballow. Rest of stock divided among all the children but Charles,
who has his share, and Leonard whose share I leave at the discretion of
the others. If my son Edward should return from the Army or should
died without issue, his share remains with Tabitha, Jesse, and Michie.
Executors: Martha Hall and Michie Ballow. Jesse not to receive his
estate until he is 25, as he is affected by fits. Wit: Th. Badgett,
Noah Price, John Gowdy, George Prosser. William Bentley security.

---My negro girl Claris to Clayton Stribling for which he
must pay all my just debts; my mare and colt, saddle and briddle, bed and
trunk to Patience Jones. I mean to give my best clothing to Mrs Wilbourn,
meaning Capt. Wilbourn's wife, also Mrs. Tilman, Aaron Tilmans wife
shall have some of my courser clothing. But Mrs. Wilbourn my silks
in particular I give. Wit: William Buchanan, Mary Wilbourn.
Proven by William Buchanan on 10 Feb. 1803.
*In court records, she is mentioned as Ann or Nancy and is not believed
to be the mother of Renney Belue's children by researchers. mb
