According to the Berkeley Wellness Letter (which is the biggest wellness publication in the world and an authority on the subject of health and wellness)the necessity of supplementation "is no longer a matter of dispute."NOT ONE- NOT EVEN ONE - American gets all the vitamins and minerals their bodies need from their daily food intake. There are many reasons for this, including our over consumption of processed foods and our not consuming the proper foods from each food group each day.

The "Food Pyramid"requires 23 servings of grains, fruits, meats and vegetables per day. Being honest with ourselves we know that no one is going to really eat 23 servings of high fiber, low fat food every day for life. Someone may prove me wrong on this, but for most of us this just is not going to happen.

In addition, the most recent medical and scientific research indicates that our bodies can use much more nutrition than we are able to take in from our food. Medical research has now proven that high levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients reduce our risk of cancer, heart disease, arthritis and many other age related degenerative diseases. Antioxidants and phytonutrients are the parts of fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods that are good for us. Much higher dosages than the "RDA" of vitamin antioxidants in addition to non-vitamin antioxidants (phytonutrients, selenium, glutathione, leucanthocyanin, etc.) are needed for maximum benefit and optimal health.

So supplementation is a must - NOT an option. The only question is what supplements to take and in what combination and dosages. There is a vast array of products available out there and some are good, but most unfortunately are a waste of money. They either don't even dissolve in your intestinal tract so they can be absorbed, or are in a form that is poorly absorbed into your body from your intestinal tract if they do dissolve, or are poorly utilized by your body's cells to do what you are taking them for in the first place (poor bioavailability). Some forms of nutrients are just more bioactive than others.
