Malis, M.D. Founder, Concord Clinic The philosophy of preventive medicine and its effect on the longevity and quality of life is not a new notion to Charles D. Malis, M.D. Dr. Malis has been extensively involved in research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the prevention of heart attacks and strokes. The results of his studies were chronicled in a series of published papers on the subject. As early as 1975, Dr. Malis was exploring the factors that yield a climate for heart attacks and strokes when he began his research in hypertension at the Cleveland Clinic. He also investigated the mechanisms of cellular injury as it relates to heart attacks and strokes at Johns Hopkins University and Hospital. Dr. Malis has been in private practice since 1989 when he joined the Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1991, Dr. Malis founded the Concord Longevity Center to reach out to the community in an effort to help people develop and learn to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Recognizing the link between lifestyle, nutrition, exercise and disease, Dr. Malis not only educates, but also encourages and assists individuals to realize that how they treat themselves and their bodies on a daily basis has long term ramifications.
