A Taste of Climbing Top


Have you always wanted to try rock climbing?  This non-instructional course, is an opportunity for aspiring climbers to get on the rocks!  Friendly Adventure Rock staff will take care of the belaying so you can focus on climbing.  Space is limited to 12 participants, and reservations are required for this popular program.  Please contact us  to sign up!

On The Rocks! (OTR) Top


This hands-on course includes an introduction to gym climbing, knot tying, belaying and rope handling skills.  All equipment is provided.  Participants also receive a coupon good for a 15 minute refresher course and a free day pass for the next visit.  Classes start promptly, please arrive 15 minutes early for registration. 

Class Times: Thursdays 6pm-8pm, Saturdays 12pm-2pm (reservations required)

On The Rocks! 2 Top


OTR2 is the next step in the introduction to the world of gym climbing.  This hands on course will help you bridge the gap between knowing the safety skills (OTR) and understanding how to utilize Adventure Rock as you continue your rock climbing adventure.  Topics include: route reading, route rating, bouldering, basic technique, and more.  A must for any aspiring climber.

Class Times: Thursdays 6pm-8pm, Saturdays 12pm-2pm (reservations required)

Sit Start Top


This class is a great introduction to the sport of climbing.  The idea of this program is to allow children to get off the ground, while calming nerves. Instructors build confidence through the use of climbing games and encouragement.  Parents are welcomed to participate with their children or simply drop them off.

Ascent Camps Top


Adventure Rock's Ascent camps are great for aspiring young climbers. Each camp is geared to progressively build on climbing skills from Ascent I to Ascent III.  These camps will allow children to make new friends, build confidence and increase their climbing repertoire.  Each of the three camps are 6 week sessions geared for ages 9-12.

This program is geared toward the basics of rock climbing.  It includes instruction on safety systems, essential knots, proper equipment use, climbing games, and lots of climbing.  Each week new skills are introduced and practiced.

The next step in the Ascent series will hone a young climber's safety skills including belaying. We review the basics and continue to add on new information while giving children mountains of hands on experience.

Ascent III is for the children who are regular monkeys.  This will further develop your child into  climber, focusing on technique with time on the wall  Prerequisites:  Ascent II

Big Wall Top


Big Wall is an introduction to climbing for teenagers.  This program will teach climbing basics as well as touch on other aspects of climbing outdoors.  Subjects include:  belaying, bouldering, traditional climbing, sport climbing and more.  Participants may choose to come alone or bring a friend.

Junior Climbing Team Top


The Junior Climbing Team is for young climbers who want to broaden their climbing skills and horizons.  Each week coaches will assist children on "Raising the Bar" by making them stronger, smarter, and more competent climbers.  Prerequisites:  Ascent III or instructor approval

Kids Climbing Team Top


This class is for the rock jock in your family.  Each week climbers will participate in drills, workouts, and home exercises all to push climbers' individual limits.  Regional scrimmages and competitions held monthly.  Prerequisites: Instructor Approval

Sport Climbing Top


Finally...a course that will teach you how to function in both the indoor and outdoor arena.  There are many differences between sport climbing in a gym and sport climbing on real rock.  Besides teaching you the skills needed to sport climb at Adventure Rock, this course will also teach you the skills essential to climbing outdoors. These skills include: how to lead belay, clean routes, hang draws, clip, back rope and tram.  This class will also familiarize you with different types of top-out anchors and the ethics that go along with being a responsible and courteous sport climber.  Please call us 2 weeks in advance for reservations.

Class Times: 3 hours by reservation
Cost: $40.00 per person (3 climber minimum)
Requirements: Good belay skills and 5.9 climbing ability

Adult Club Top


Our adult class is a perfect opportunity for newer climbers to meet new people and learn the ins and outs of the sport.  Each week we will focus on techniques for more efficient climbing in a fun social atmosphere.  Come alone or bring a friend!  Prerequisites:  Belay Test Passed

This class is based on the famous climbing trainer Eric Horst's schedule for training.  If you want to take your climbing to the next level, but need some help give Adventure Rock 10 weeks.  Each week will have planned exercises as well as additional workouts.   Prerequisites:  Belay Tested and desire to follow training schedules
